Upper / middle / Lower back pain
To treat persistent lower back pain, firm pressure may be applied to acupoints on the bladder and gallbladder meridians, relieving pain and stimulating the flow of qi. Experts suggest that pressing the b 54 acupressure points, which are behind your knees, may help move pain and pressure away from your back. Low back pain is a common health problem worldwide. In previous studies, acupressure has been shown to be effective in alleviating this pain.
Acupressure is more efficacious than physical therapy in reducing lower back pain in terms of disability, pain scores and functional status, and the effect is sustained for six months. The authors suggest that their study provides an internally valid result for comparison across international studies. Long sitting hours leads to serious muscle imbalances. An effective way to eliminate back pain is to identify the muscle imbalances that are pulling the spine, bones, and joints out of place and then stretch the tight muscles while strengthening the weak muscles.
Frozen shoulder pain
Frozen shoulder is the name given to a stiff and painful shoulder joint which follows a typical pattern. It is also known as capsulitis or traumatic arthritis. The patient is usually aged 45 or over and a frozen shoulder most often occurs on the non-dominant side i.e. The left handed patient will have a right frozen shoulder and visa versa. A frozen shoulder may follow minor injury such as a fall or even banging into a doorframe or slamming a car door awkwardly. The condition usually starts with inflammation of the tendons that move the shoulder joint, or inflammation of the fibrous capsule of the joint, or swelling of the soft sac that cushions the joint. If you avoid using the shoulder because of discomfort, it may become stiff and even more painful to use. The pain will begin to ease after some months, but by then scarring of the joint capsule and prolonged immobility may mean that the full range of shoulder movements never returns.
Acupressure for frozen shoulder starts with reducing the pain and stiffness of the shoulder and increasing blood circulation through heat. Shoulder massage is also a good way to start physical therapy for frozen shoulder as it increases the flow of blood and oxygen into the area.
