Hoarse Throat
Any kind of excessive voice use, whether it`s singing or speaking, certainly yelling and screaming can lead to this easily. The larynx is pretty delicate. It`s a very small structure and it uses a lot of forces. Tw 3 (triple warmer 3) or middle island is located on the back of the hand between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones. First, swallow to get a clear sense of how your throat feels, then press firmly on the point with your thumb. Now swallow again. If this is the correct point your throat should feel better instantly.
Lockjaw
Lockjaw is an infection that causes extreme muscle stiffness and spasms. Also referred to as tetanus, it`s easily prevented with shots of tetanus vaccine, which are usually given in infancy. Lockjaw is caused by germs called clostridium tetani, which live in the soil. These bacteria typically enter the body through a puncture wound, such as one caused by stepping on a nail. Once inside the body, the bacteria produce a toxin that attacks the nerves in control of the muscles, thereby causing severe spasms. Between the upper and lower jaw, on the muscle that bulges when the back teeth are clenched relieves jaw pain and spasms, lockjaw and toothaches.
Stiff tongue
A stiff tongue indicates either severe blood stasis or internal wind. As the tongue is also purple, in this case it is most likely that it indicates blood stasis. Point tw5 relieves exterior muscles, facilitates circulation of stagnant qi in the specific channels and proves to be a very strong distal point for curing stiff tongue.
Sore throat
The point on the outside of your thumb by the base of the nail is called lu 11 (lung 11). In Chinese, it is called lesser merchant. At the first sign of a sore throat, use your other fingernail, a toothpick or a pencil eraser to apply pressure. This helps to strengthen your respiratory system and give it a boost of strength to ward of the invading cold.
A small piece of fresh ginger can be one of the most natural and effective ways for soothing a sore throat. Simply place a very thin slice of fresh ginger on the back of your tongue. If your throat is sensitive and the ginger feels hot, use a smaller, thinner piece and place it farther back toward your throat. Keep the ginger in the back of your throat for ten minutes. Repeat with a fresh piece several times a day as needed. A quarter cup of chopped ginger can also be simmered in a few cups of water and used as a tea for soothing coughs and sore throats.
