Stress and Hypertension
Stress
Acupressure stimulates the same points as acupuncture, but instead of needles, it uses the gentle but firm pressure of the hands to release muscular tension, promote the circulation of blood, and stimulate the body`s natural self-curative abilities. Acupressure reaches to the core many of the emotional disorders and stress-related physical problems that typify our contemporary world. By freeing unresolved emotional experiences stored in the body, acupressure can alleviate a wide range of everyday aches and pains, allergies, poor circulation, sleeplessness, and other chronic complaints. It can even unveil the memory of a traumatic experience that caused an emotional wound.

Stress is caused by many things. As such, it would seem logical that there is a multitude of ways to relieve it. One of those methods is through the stimulation of acupressure point gb21. This point is known for helping to relive frustration, fatigue, shoulder tension, irritability and nervousness - all related to stress. To produce the effect desired, press the highest point of the shoulder muscle approximately midway between the spine and the outer tip of the shoulder.

Hypertension
Hypertension can be classified as either essential or secondary. Essential hypertension is the term used when no specific medical cause can be found to explain a patient`s condition. Secondary hypertension means that the high blood pressure is a result of (i.e. Secondary to) another condition, such as kidney disease or certain tumors. Auricular (ear) acupressure has been reported to be an effective treatment for hypertension though in one case the improvement was not significantly better than use of traditional herbal medicines.
