Spontaneous Sweating
Abnormally profuse sweating is called spontaneous sweating. From the acupressure point of view it is seen as a deficiency of the qi, and in particular the "defensive" qi. It may occur in old people, or in a patient who is recovering from illness and is still very weak. The treatment is to tone the qi. Spontaneous sweating may cause due to hormonal imbalance, cardiovascular disease. The patient needs to relax and remain in fresh air, need to lie down and use acupressure to relax mind and body both. Each patient is custom-treated according to his or her specific and unique diagnosis. Acupressure will rarely treat the symptom of sweating directly. There are, however, a few "symptomatic points" that are often used in combination for sweating.
Night Sweating
You are night sweating when you sweat at night despite a cool room temperature. Sometimes the sweating is caused if you are suffering from fever, fatigue, discomfort or pain in the body. This may cause when you are also experiencing a sleep disorder, such as sleepwalking, nightmares, apnea or insomnia. Night sweats are due to yin deficiency. The yin must be nourished.
Excessive Dreaming
As the excessive dreaming causes more rem sleep, meaning less deep sleep, we become exhausted. The more exhausted we are the more we are likely to interpret reality in depressing ways. The cycle continues by finally affecting our immune systems, and periods of repair and re-growth we undergo in deep sleep, affecting our health, which can only add to depression. Hence acupoints for depression, exhaustion may be used for this disorder may be used for this disorder. A yinbai (spleen 1) is a wonderful point slightly superior to the medial corner of the nail bed of the big toe. This point can be accessed by pressing with your thumb or even, for stronger stimulation, using your nail to dig gently into the area of the point. Use this point in the evening and before bed to calm the mind and stop excessive dreaming.
