Ambrette Seed
(Abelmoschus moschatus)
Ambrette seed is very grounding. Its used as a spice in the East, and as a musk substitute in perfumery. In India it is popularly known as Mushkdana or Kasturi Bhendi. Traditionally, it cures cramp, indigestion, acidity and other stomach complaints, and treats headaches and nerves. In aromatherapy, it is effective for anxiety, depression, fatigue or other stress-related conditions. It is also good for cramps, muscular aches and poor circulation.
Origin of Ambrette Seed
Oil is extracted from the musky, kidney- shaped, fully ripened seeds. The evergreen shrub grows well in India, and is cultivated in the West Indies, China and Indonesia.
Properties of Ambrette Seed oil
The essential oil has a rich, musky smell and has both relaxing and stimulating properties. It is warming and calming and said to be an aphrodisiac.
Most common uses
· Massage, baths, inhalation, compress.
· A few drops on a tissue can clear your head, whether you`re suffering from a cold or mental fatigue.
· Relieve headaches or any nausea, from travel to morning sickness.
· Four drops in a basin will refresh tired feet.
Mixes well with Mandarin, Orange, Peppermint, Rosemary and Spruce.
WARNING: Ambrette seed oil is perfectly safe for home use as long as it is diluted before application.
