Soothing out the Aura: Before even touching the aura of the client, his aura must be smoothed out. The procedure is as follows:
Sit by the person to be healed. The healer should place the left hand on the Hara (abdomen). With the right hand, he should stroke along the midline of the body from head to toe keeping a distance of about 8 inches. When reaching the feet, place the hand vertically, and pass it closely over the body back toward the head. Repeat the procedure again for two more times.
After giving the Reiki session, healer must place the left hand on the Hara or Sacrum (lower back) of the client. Repeat the same procedure.
This technique is used to create a connectedness or the bond between the healer and the healed. It is a gentle way to enter the Aura or the inner subtle field of perception of the client. By placing the left hand of the healer on his own Hara, and placing the right one on his client, centeredness is created for further therapy. This paves way for the deeper contact or the union of self with the other. By moving the hands, healers presence is conveyed everywhere along with smoothening of superficial energy build up and stimulating a harmonious flow of energy in the Aura.
After the session, placement of hand on Client`s Hara makes the person realize his own individualistic source of energy.
The Energy Stroke: The end of the session can be augmented with the supply of the energy from the root chakra to the whole body. This technique was also used by famous Franz Anton Mesmer to provide people with supply of energy, and to get them out of fainting spells. At the end of the healing session, a fast stroke may be carried out from vertically held hand, starting the pelvis to the crown above the middle of the body. A negative effect, or diminishing of the strength can also be conveyed by stroking in the opposite direction, i.e. stroking downward from head to the pelvis.
