Personality chakra or Solar Plexus chakra is the center of power. The Heart chakra being the center of relationship (yin) of this realm, governs the personal and social intentions of humans. This chakra deals with the ego or the "self". In totality, the self-assertion of our own personality from the solar Plexus chakra represents one pole. Readiness to accept our own ego and that of other living beings in the heart center is the other pole. "The will to individuality" is what expresses itself in the solar plexus chakra. After all, our self is governed by the choices we make in our life. Consequently, a dysfunction of the solar plexus chakra may manifest rather vehemently in claims to power, dogmatic rigidity, fear of disintegration (i.e. loosing individuality), envy, greed and acquisitiveness.
As solar plexus is a good starting-point for the dissolution of karma, it is considered extremely important for our path to God. It is also the source of our personal freedom and our feelings of guilt. In other words, choices between our potentially unlimited capacity for growth and our self-imposed limitations are decided here. Only when the fears and feelings of guilt as well as the claims to power resulting from them are released that a human being will be able to allow and respect other`s freedom. This creates true acceptance and love for fellow human beings. Thus, the opening of this solar plexus chakra is the way to the opening of the heart.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Mental symptoms resulting from the blockages in the chakra are attitudes such as claims to power (possessiveness over other beings and objects such as money), greed, compulsive spending, status anxiety (fear of loosing the job or reputation, failure) and envy. Blockages in the solar plexus center can also result in physical symptoms such as stomach complaints, pancreatic dysfunctions, liver and gall complaints, disordered gastric secretions and dysfunctions of the salivary glands. In case the solar plexus center is not running in its potential (i.e. under functioning), individuals seem nondescript in behavior and appearance. Over functioning of the chakra usually produces the typical "power-seeker" or "family tyrant".
Heart Chakra
A balanced heart chakra enables us to accept the world, ourselves and other individuals the way they are. If your own personality has been formed in the solar plexus, then the heart chakra is the place for accepting this self-created structure of "personality" with all its rough edges, merits and mistakes, and learning to love it.
It`s a process of accepting the "self". If one constantly experience inner discord within just because one do not live up to ideal image of created by the wishful mind, then he/ she is not able to meet the fellow humans in a relaxed and loving manner. Instead, the person accuses them of disappointing in not creating desired world for him. But if one can take prejudices and beliefs with a relaxed attitude, he / she will also recognize the unique capabilities in self as well as in others. Then the person will be able to regard these capabilities as helpful and useful, and will accept them joyfully.
The essence of reiki also arises from the Heart center. Healing always takes place whenever the sick part is accepted. Blockages in the heart center could result in attitudes such as imposing conditions on love (conditional love), suffocating love (imposing self wishes in the name of love), exaggerated selflessness or selfishness. Blockages in the heart center often result in physical malfunctions such as heart trouble, dysfunction of the thymus gland, lung diseases as well as disturbed circulation, tension, cramps and cancer. If there is an under function of the Heart chakra, the person tends to be ruthless against himself and against others. Over functioning causes exaggerated tolerance up to point of self-sacrifice.
