Preparing for the Reiki Treatment
Feng Shui during the Rei.. Removing Jewelry The Invocation
Before and After The Rei..
A reiki session is an intimate, quiet and deep procedure of energy transfer. This requires certain prerequisite conditions from the practitioner, the client as well as the environment where the ritual is taking place. The best preparation lead to effective and unhampered treatment, while unforeseen but avoidable hurdles can cause considerable loss to the total therapeutic result.

While preparing for the reiki treatment, following factors should be kept in consideration:
  • Feng Shui: A reiki treatment in a place with positive vibes supporting a good energy flow is important. A harmonious environment yields a beautiful experience for both the practitioner and the patient.

  • External factors such as removing the jewellery and washing hands also lead to energetically favorable and pleasant treatment.

  • Invoking is another way of mentally and psychologically preparing oneself for reiki treatment, and is of prime importance because a proper mental invocation will lead to powerful energy flow.

  • Other than these factors there are general instructions for both practitioner and the client.

Reiki PractitionerInstructions for the Reiki Practitioner:
  • Rinse your mouth out with clean water. Use a mouthwash or mints in case of smoking and eating garlic, etc.

  • Drink a glass of clean water.

  • An informal conversation helps to establish a harmonious connection between the practitioner and the client. Also the healer gets to know more about the client`s problems and requirements (such as pain or other complaints and the date of the last thorough medical examination.).

  • If not familiar with your client`s illness look it up in a pathology handbook. Be sure to have one on hand.

  • Ask the client about family background, work, etc. Without pressuring the client you can often get quite an exact picture of the situation.

  • Briefly explain to the client what to expect during the treatment.

  • Explain that during the treatment it is possible that feelings previously banished to the depths will come to light and that it is okay to experience these feelings and to express them.

  • If possible allow your client a few minutes after the treatment to regain composure.

  • Do not send the client home right away. At least 15 minutes of rest is always appro-priate.

  • Change the sheets after the treatment.

  • Wash your hands again with clean cold water.

  • Allow yourself a few minutes of rest before you receive your next client.

  • Reiki ClientInstructions for the Reiki Client:
  • If possible come to the treatment relaxed and freshly showered. The more awake you are the better you will be able to respond to and enjoy the treatment./li>
  • Tell the person giving the treatment why you have come. Freely converse about your problems.

  • Be as relaxed as possible. Breathe deeply and calmly.

  • Trust the person giving you the treatment.

  • Dedicate the time of the treatment to your body and your health with complete consciousness.

  • Do not `help` the Reiki practitioner during the treatment. If, for example, he wants to place a hand under your back let him do it alone. You should now be totally relaxed.

  • If you feel pain or a (perhaps unfamiliar) strong flow of energy, mention this immediately to the practitioner.

  • When feelings come up from the deep inside let this happen even if they are unpleasant. If you need to cry or laugh let this happen. If it is "very unpleasant" for you try to alert the practi-tioner.
