The school of Tera mai originated from the same source as Reiki. The system acquired the additional dimensions by incorporating the knowledge of how the extra elemental healing rays of fire, water and air could be channeled. These additional concepts have helped in fine-tuning the already existing healing methods.
Tera-Mai is the registered trademark of Kathleen Milner (USA). Kathleen, who was well versed with the original Raku Kei Reiki system, changed the attunement process in the existing knowledge, left out some information, and added several symbols. Originally she taught this system as just plain Reiki which caused much confusion between Reiki practitioners. Now she teaches as a separate system of Tera-Mai Seichem Reiki and Tera Mai. This school includes energy activation of Sakara, Angelic light (air element) and Soph iel(water). She considered the changes appropriate and more suitable for the raised vibrational frequency of the times in which we live, i.e the modern world.
Tera-Mai Seichem, as a resultant system, is a combination of some Raku Kei, some Seichim, some from no other Reiki system and a lot of miller`s own understandings. Her attunements are very different from Traditional Usui, which are said to be inspired by some great being. The energy of Tera-Mai is indeed considered very earthy and less subtle than Usui reiki. The lineage of the system begins with Usui, which is then passed to Hayashi-Takata-Ishikuro-Robertson-Rick and Emma Ferguson-Margarette L. Shelton, and then finally Kathleen Ann Milner who founded Tera mai.
The first degree initiates the student for the first time. It also teaches one with the history, precepts, hand positions etc.
In Second Degree the student is introduced to another initiation, teachings concerning the 3 traditional symbols, 2 symbols from the great being and other symbols (names, meaning and usage). He / she also learns the techniques of distance healing.
At Mastership level, there is one initiation, a water ceremony, and a YOD initiation. The student learns 1 traditional, 1 YOD and 1 symbol from the great being which are initiatory symbols, 2 sealing symbols, and other symbols. They also learn (Milner`s) attunement method to First, Second and Master Degrees, a gold, blue and rainbow "Breath of the Fire Dragon" technique, the water ceremony and another initiation called the YOD initiation which is said to connect one with the energies of the Arc of the Covenant. Other symbols are given to Masters that have been channeled by her (Milner`s) students.
Kathleen Milner has initiated many healers into the Tera Mai Reiki & Seichem system. Tera-Mai masters are required under the terms of the trademark not to perform attunements from any other Reiki or Seichem system, as combining systems like this has been found to disrupt the flow of energies in the master. The Tera-Mai trademark was set up to protect and maintain the integrity of the attunements.
It is believed by the practitioner of the system that these attunements are still being upgraded by Spirit from time to time, in line with the increasing Light energies coming in to the planet nowadays. Therefore all registered Tera-Mai Masters are required to adapt to the changes as they are brought in from Spirit via Kathleen Milner.
