Swastikasana is one of the four meditative poses. The Padmasana, Siddhasana and the Samasana are the other meditative poses. A meditative pose is nothing but the most comfortable and convenient position assumed by one in meditation.
Steps for Practice:
1. Sit erect keeping your spine straight.
2. Keep your soles between thigh and calf muscles.
3. Stretch out both legs together, hands by the side of the body, palms resting on the ground, fingers together pointing forward.
4. Now fold your one leg at the knees and put it against the joint of the other thigh.
5. Fold the other leg and put it near the joint of the other thigh.
6. Put both hands on the knees in jnana mudra.
7. While returning to the original position first stretch out right leg.
8. Then stretch out left leg and keep both legs together.
Benefits:
1. It helps maintain normal temperature within the body and tones abdominal muscles and sciatic nerve.
2. It improves one`s concentrating power.
3. This is a very suitable position for knowledge, learning, meditation, preparation for other asanas and relaxation between any two sitting position.
